Warsaw's Metro had its ninth birthday this week, just weeks after the opening of its xxxx Metro Gdansk station. The line has now carried an estimated 440 million passengers since the first stations were opened between the Kabaty forest in the south of the city and Metro Politechnika on April 7, 1995. Better still, the line's next stations look like coming in on time - the next stop at Zoliborz hub Plac Wilsona is due to open in December of this year, and the Marymont station on ul. Zeromskiego two years later. The second and third lines running across the river are still at the planning stage.
